According to public data, Daimler has several trucks weighing around 18-36 tons, peak power of 250-500kw, battery capacity between 240-550Kwh, and Tesla Semi's cruising range of 480-800km, maximum load. Up to 36.29 tons, 647km can be driven in 30 minutes. This is not an order of magnitude more than a passenger car. Domestic enterprises such as Dongfeng Motor, Shaanxi Tongjia, Geely Commercial Vehicle, Nanjing Jinlong and other enterprises have done a good job in pure electric logistics vehicles.

The electric heavy truck seems to be quiet?

In fact, mainstream car companies at home and abroad have already laid out the layout of electric heavy trucks. For example, BYD proposed a strategy in 2015 to focus on the field of new energy heavy-duty special vehicles. Up to now, BYD has launched a number of electric truck products ranging in weight from 1.3 tons to 33 tons. According to the data, in the first half of 2019, BYD delivered a total of 2815 pure electric heavy trucks, ranking first in China.

Domestically, such as FAW, Futian, Dongfeng, China National Heavy Duty Truck, overseas, such as Volvo, Scania, Cummins, etc., also have products in the field of electric heavy trucks.

But the important factor that plagues the development of electric heavy trucks is still related to batteries.

As far as the battery is concerned, the electric heavy-duty truck has higher load capacity and higher requirements on the battery cruising range and light weight, and it is necessary to increase the driving mileage without reducing the effective cargo weight; meanwhile, the cargo transportation also requires the charging time to be obtained. Guarantee, so whether it can support fast charge is also one of the key factors for battery matching; of course, the most important thing is the cost of the battery system. In the case of excessive battery cost, there is no advantage in using electric trucks. .

It can be seen that battery performance and cost become the key point to control the normal operation of electric heavy trucks. In the current operation modes of many domestic and foreign heavy truck enterprises, electric heavy trucks are basically applied to specific application scenarios such as port traction, and the requirements for battery life and charging are not strict. In the future, if it is to be used in long-distance transportation, in addition to the construction of supporting charging facilities, low-cost, long-life, fast charging and other aspects need to continue to improve. In addition, the driving area spans the east, west, and north, and it is believed that the all-weather battery that is not sensitive to temperature will be more favored by heavy truck drivers.
